Job summary

Layton Construction in Utah is seeking a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers to ensure that work installed on the project meets plan and specification requirements. The role emphasizes reviewing shop drawings, coordinating with architects and subcontractors, and maintaining schedules.

You will contribute to cost-saving methods, attend weekly meetings, prepare progress reports, and help with bids and scope development for trade contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand plans.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers to ensure work meets plan and specification requirements.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with architect and subcontractors on design and constructability.
• Publish weekly progress reports and manage project schedules.
• Attend owner/architect meetings and distribute minutes.
• Assist in bidding and developing scope of work for trade contractors.
• Advise on efficient methods and material usage to save costs.
• Ensure safety policies are followed and report unsafe activities.
