Job summary

Software Placement Group is seeking a Field Service Technician to support customers through installation, startup, training, and ongoing maintenance of packaging systems. This remote, travel-based role requires extensive travel and field work, with on-call support during peak season.

You will calibrate equipment, train operators, and diagnose issues at customer sites, ensuring reliable performance and customer satisfaction across the full lifecycle of the packaging equipment.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, schematics.
• Review mechanical and electrical drawing packages.
• Read wiring diagrams to verify operation per specs.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, controls, and instrument issues on site.
• Prepare for on-site travel with safe, efficient work practices.
• Maintain composure while interacting with customers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Install, startup, train, and maintain packaging systems at customers.
• Calibrate HMIs, meters, and sensors per manufacturer specs.
• Train operators and maintenance personnel using outlines.
• Provide phone and onsite customer support.
• Diagnose causes of operating errors and take corrective actions.
• Complete service reports and follow up on next steps.
• Observe safety rules and maintain tools and supplies.
• Assist with sales quotes and create documentation videos.
