Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a Clinical Engagement Coordinator to join our multidisciplinary team in New York City. The role focuses on providing daily support and evidence-based interventions to individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and substance use challenges within a facility setting.

You will engage clients, coordinate with clinical and security staff, and use Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed practices to promote safety and recovery, while

Qualifications

• Direct experience with homelessness, mental illness and substance abuse populations.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing and conflict resolution is preferred.
• Proficiency with computers required; CPR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support and interventions to individuals with a range of behaviors and symptoms.
• Work in a multi-disciplinary team with medical, clinical, and direct support professionals.
• Engage clients using client-centered approaches and trauma-informed care.
• Provide supervision support to frontline operations and case management staff.
• De-escalate crises verbally before involving authorities and maintain safety.
• Deliver ongoing training on de-escalation and crisis intervention.
• Make referrals to services and support client engagement and safety.
• Create and maintain QA procedures.
