Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. in New York City is seeking a Community Technician to provide frontline support in a 24/7 program. This full-time role offers ongoing training and opportunities to grow within a mission-driven team.

The position emphasizes trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and compassionate engagement with residents, including documentation, safety checks, and crisis response. Evening and overnight shifts are common.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication and basic computer skills.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
