Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician to serve as a steady, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness. You will monitor residential spaces, respond to crises, screen residents, and support safety procedures, with rotations including mornings, evenings, and overnights.

No prior shelter experience required, but you must stay calm under pressure and communicate clearly with residents and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
