Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician to provide a steady, compassionate presence for individuals experiencing homelessness on each shift. You will monitor, assist during crises, screen visitors, and help maintain a safe, dignified environment.

No prior shelter experience is required; training is provided. This full-time role offers day-one benefits, tuition support, and opportunities for growth within a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided)
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes)
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep
