Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician for full-time, 37.5 hours per week in a 24/7 program. You’ll provide a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, supporting people in crisis, uncertainty, or transition.

No prior shelter experience required; needs strong judgment, empathy, and calm under pressure. You’ll monitor, de-escalate, respond to safety concerns, document, assist with meals and facility upkeep, and pursue certifications sponsored by BRC.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
