Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician to provide a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness across shifts. This frontline role suits those with an interest in social work, public health, or emergency response.

No prior shelter experience required—just empathy, good judgment, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. You’ll receive training and certifications, with a clear path to case management and leadership.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
