Job summary

BRC seeks a Community Technician to serve as a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, often assisting during crises or transitions. This full-time role emphasizes empathy, judgment, and calmness under pressure.

You'll help maintain a safe residential environment, engage residents with trauma-informed methods, document incidents, and support safety and meals. Training and certifications are provided, with day-one benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.
• Experience with homelessness, mental health, or substance use populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
