Job summary

BRC is hiring a Community Technician to provide a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness across shifts, including crisis moments. This frontline role emphasizes judgment, empathy, and calm under pressure, no prior shelter experience required.

You’ll engage residents, monitor the environment, document incidents, assist with meals and safety, and gain access to certifications and pathways to case management and leadership through structured training and tuition

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
