Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. is seeking a Community Technician to provide frontline, trauma-informed support for individuals experiencing homelessness. This full-time role involves maintaining a safe residential environment, responding to crises, and performing documentation and safety tasks throughout shifts.

No prior shelter experience is required; training and certifications will be provided. Overtime is mandatory, with opportunities to advance into case management or leadership roles

Qualifications

• Experience in trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
