Job summary

BRC in New York, NY is seeking a Community Technician to provide frontline support for individuals experiencing homelessness. You will maintain safety, respond to crises, and document incidents while receiving training and certifications offered by the organization.

The role emphasizes empathy, calm judgment, and strong teamwork in a fast-paced setting that operates 24/7 with mandatory overtime.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
