Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician in New York, NY. This full-time frontline role supports individuals experiencing homelessness, including moments of crisis and transition, with an emphasis on safety and empathy.

You will monitor and maintain a safe environment, use trauma-informed approaches, document incidents, assist with meals and escorts, and participate in training and certifications. The role offers overtime, benefits from Day One, and clear pathways to advancement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.
• Experience with homelessness populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
