Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician in New York to provide a steady, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness. You’ll monitor living spaces, support residents in crises, document incidents, and help maintain safety.

No shelter experience required; you’ll receive trauma-informed training and certifications. This full-time role includes overtime, health and retirement benefits, tuition assistance, and opportunities to grow into case management.

Qualifications

• Must have a HS diploma or GED.
• Ability to communicate clearly with residents and staff.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed approaches and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
