Job summary

BRC - Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. in Manhattan, NY, seeks a Community Technician to provide frontline support in a 24/7 program. The position is full-time (37.5 hours/week) with mandatory overtime, focusing on trauma-informed engagement and safety within a residential setting.

The role emphasizes crisis response, documentation, and coordination with case management to assist individuals experiencing homelessness. Training and certifications are offered as part of a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma‑informed and de‑escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
