Job summary

BRC is hiring a Community Technician in New York to provide frontline support for individuals experiencing homelessness, including crisis intervention and trauma-informed care. The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and compassionate engagement across all shifts.

The position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week with mandatory overtime. Training will cover CPR/First Aid and Narcan, with opportunities for advancement into case management and leadership roles.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
