Job summary

BRC seeks a Community Technician in New York, NY, for a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week with mandatory overtime and 24/7 coverage. You will serve as a trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, maintaining safety, conducting rounds, and using trauma-informed approaches.

The role emphasizes crisis response, documentation, and collaboration with a team, with opportunities for certifications, tuition support, and career advancement within a mission-driven program.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to stay calm and professional in crises.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through rounds.
• Engage residents with trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while ensuring dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan training provided).
• Complete documentation (logs, incident reports, progress notes).
• Assist with fire safety procedures, inspections and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
