Job summary

BRC in New York, NY is hiring a Community Technician to provide frontline support for individuals experiencing homelessness. This full-time role emphasizes crisis response, trauma-informed care, and maintaining a safe living environment across shifts.

You will engage residents with empathy, manage incidents, and participate in training to earn certifications (CPR/First Aid, Narcan, and more). Morning, evening, and overnight coverage is required, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to engage with individuals in crisis with empathy and judgment.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through rounds and monitoring.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts and crises professionally and calmly.
• Screen residents and visitors while ensuring dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan) with training provided.
• Complete documentation in logbooks and incident reports.
• Support fire safety procedures and inspections.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
