Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician in New York to provide a steady, compassionate presence for individuals experiencing homelessness. This frontline role emphasizes trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, and responding to crises with professionalism.

The position offers full-time hours (37.5 per week) with a 24/7 program and mandatory overtime. Training is provided, including certifications such as CPR/First Aid and Narcan, to support safety and welfare on every shift.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
