Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a Community Technician for a full-time, 37.5-hour work week to provide a steady, trusted presence for residents experiencing homelessness and to support safety and order within the facility.

The role involves trauma-informed engagement, routine rounds, and documentation, with training provided for CPR/First Aid and Narcan. This position offers growth into frontline public health and emergency response pathways.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication and basic computer skills.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan) with training provided.
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures and inspections.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
