Job summary

BOWERY RESIDENTS' COMMITTEE, INC. in New York, NY seeks a Community Technician for a full-time 37.5-hr workweek in a 24/7 program. This frontline role supports residents in crisis, stressing calm judgment and empathy. Overtime is required and training is provided to handle emergencies.

No prior shelter experience is required; growth paths exist toward case management and leadership while receiving structured onboarding and team support.

Qualifications

• Must have a HS diploma or GED.
• Experience with trauma-informed care and crisis response preferred.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, Narcan, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through rounds and monitoring.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed approaches and de-escalation.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while upholding dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan training provided).
• Complete documentation (logs, incident reports, progress notes).
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
