Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a Community Technician to serve as a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness across shifts. This frontline role emphasizes empathy, crisis response, and maintaining a safe environment. Training is provided for certifications, including First Aid/CPR and Narcan, with strong pathways to case management and leadership as you grow within the program.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
