Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a credentialed Professional Coding Operations Specialist in Enterprise Revenue Cycle. This full-time role focuses on complex CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM coding for both office and hospital settings, with emphasis on accurate modifiers and documentation clarity.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of multi-specialty coding experience and an active AAPC or AHIMA certification. Epic EMR experience is required, and a remote work option may apply within approved states.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years of direct professional fee coding experience in a multi-specialty environment.
• Experience with professional procedural coding (e.g., surgical, interventional procedures) is preferred.
• Experience with Epic or similar electronic health record systems is required.
• Active coding certification issued by AAPC or AHIMA; dual certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complex, specialty-specific professional fee coding (CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM) for physician services rendered in both office and hospital settings.
• Perform entry-level facility coding for simple outpatient encounters and basic inpatient services using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.
• Ensure all coding adheres to official guidelines, CMS regulations, and organizational standards.
• Identify the need for formal clinical queries for documentation clarification when necessary.
• Maintain high accuracy and productivity standards appropriate to workload complexity.
• May provide informal guidance to new coding staff on professional coding nuances.
