Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced professional coder to perform complex surgical and specialty coding (CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM/PCS) for physician services in office and hospital settings. AAPC/AHIMA certification is required; Epic EHR experience is preferred.

This full-time role offers remote work options for eligible states and requires 40 hours per week, with first shift expectations and competitive compensation within the posted pay range.

Qualifications

• Active coding certification (AAPC or AHIMA); dual certifications preferred.
• 3–5 years of direct professional fee coding in a multi-specialty environment; Epic experience preferred/required.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complex professional fee coding (CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM) for physician services.
• Perform entry-level facility coding for simple outpatient encounters and basic inpatient services using ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Ensure coding adheres to official guidelines (AAPC/AHIMA), CMS, and organizational standards.
• Provide informal guidance to new coding staff on professional coding nuances.
