Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a skilled medical coder to join the Coding Production Operations team. You will perform complex professional fee coding (CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM) for physician services in office and hospital settings, applying modifiers and E/M guidelines.

Requirements include 3–5 years of direct professional coding in a multi-specialty environment, active AAPC or AHIMA certification (dual preferred), and proficiency with Epic or similar EHR systems.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of direct professional coding experience in a multi-specialty setting.
• Active coding certification (AAPC or AHIMA) required; dual certifications preferred.
• Experience with CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complex professional fee coding (CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM) for physician services.
• Perform entry-level facility coding for simple outpatient encounters and basic inpatient services.
• Ensure coding adheres to official guidelines (AAPC/AHIMA), CMS regulations, and compliance standards.
• Provide informal guidance to new coding staff as needed.
