Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to perform complex professional coding for physician services in both office and hospital settings. You will ensure accurate CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, adhere to official guidelines, and support documentation improvement when needed.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of direct professional fee coding experience, familiarity with Epic or similar EHR systems, and can work remotely within eligible states.

Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pathophysiology.
• Advanced proficiency in CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding systems.
• Basic understanding of facility payment methodologies (MS-DRGs).
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to context-switch between coding guidelines.
• Ability to work independently, manage a varied workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complex professional coding for physician services.
• Ensure coding adheres to CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines and CMS rules.
• Identify need for clinical documentation improvement through queries.
• Maintain high accuracy and productivity; may mentor junior staff.
