Job summary

Transdev Service, Inc. seeks an Assistant General Manager to lead the Boston Public Schools transportation contract.

You will plan, direct and evaluate operations, supervise drivers and dispatch staff, and drive On-Time Performance while coordinating with maintenance and senior managers. The role requires a high school diploma (Bachelor’s preferred), 5+ years of management experience (or 2+ in passenger transportation), strong communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience or 2+ years in passenger transportation management.
• Excellent communication & customer service skills.
• Ability to work shifts or flexible schedules.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of public management and transit operations.
• DOT drug testing and physical required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily activities of all operators and coordinates the activities of supervisors and dispatch personnel.
• Oversees scheduling of Drivers, Dispatchers and Supervisors.
• Monitors operations and coordinates delivery of service with the Branch General Manager, Operations Manager and Area General Manager; and provides daily reports.
• Monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and reports variance to the location General Manager.
• Monitors department budgeted regular and exception time hours and reports variances to the location General Manager.
• Responsible for On-Time Performance and timely yard departures.
• Works closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure adequate availability of equipment.
• Track, compile and analyze performance standards related to On Time Performance, Complaints, Missed Service, and other operational standards.
• Handle interdepartmental issues; assists in the resolution of employee issues and grievances; improve processes and route scheduling.
• Maintains confidentiality of all information.
• Interact with the union representing the employees with the goal of positive interaction.
