Transdev Services, Inc. is seeking an Assistant General Manager for its Boston Public Schools transportation contract. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for planning, directing, controlling, and evaluating operations and programs of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily activities of all operators and coordinate the activities of supervisors and dispatch personnel.
• Oversee scheduling of Drivers, Dispatchers, and Supervisors.
• Monitor operations and coordinate service delivery with the Branch General Manager, Operations Manager, and Area General Manager; provide daily operational reports.
• Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report variances to the General Manager.
• Monitor budgeted regular and exception time hours and report variances to the General Manager.
• Ensure on-time performance and timely yard departures.
• Partner closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure adequate vehicle availability.
• Track, compile, and analyze operational performance metrics, including:On-Time Performance
• Customer Complaints
• Missed Service
• Other operational standards
• Address interdepartmental issues and assist with the resolution of employee concerns and grievances.
• Identify and implement process improvements and route scheduling efficiencies.
• Maintain confidentiality of all company information.
• Foster positive working relationships with union representatives and bargaining unit employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) is required
• A bachelor’s degree preferred
• A minimum of 5 years of management experience or a minimum of 2 years of passenger transportation management experience
• Excellent communication & customer service skills.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Comprehensive knowledge of public management and organization theories, principles, practices, and techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departments.
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements

100% of the job is accomplished indoors and in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities

Sit, type, and look at a computer screen for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day)

Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
