Job summary

Transdev in Boston, MA is seeking a Director of Safety and Training for its Boston Public Schools transportation contract. The role oversees the Safety and Training Department, conducts investigations, ensures regulatory compliance, and designs safety training programs.

The position includes leadership responsibilities, collaboration with external agencies, and coordination with internal departments. Compensation ranges from $110,000 to $135,000 per year with a 10% annual bonus target.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in passenger transit safety and training.
• Four (4) years of supervisory experience in passenger transit safety and training.
• A valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger and School Bus endorsements preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and ADA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the site Safety and Training Department including training schedules, logistics and documentation.
• Coordinate security policies and incident investigations with security staff or vendors.
• Ensure accidents are investigated and filed with the third‑party administrator.
• Maintain up-to-date reporting and risk management tools and documentation.
• Oversee safety meetings and occupational safety program compliance.
• Coordinate workers’ compensation, liability insurance, and risk mitigation activities.
• Ensure contract compliance with applicable regulations and reporting requirements.
