Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks an experienced Alternative Delivery Director for the Transportation Business Group. This leader will guide pursuit and delivery of complex AD projects, drive policy-driven approvals, and strengthen client relationships across multiple regions and markets.

The role emphasizes collaboration within HDR’s matrix structure and active engagement with industry associations. Required: PE license, a bachelor’s in engineering, and 10+ years in related fields, with 15+ years preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related field
• Minimum 10 years of related field experience
• Experience with project management on large transportation projects
• Ability to travel up to 50%

Responsibilities

• Direct report to the Project Delivery Program Director for pursuit and delivery of Alternative Delivery projects.
• Drive AD project approvals per HDR policy and risk committee.
• Collaborate with HDR groups on policy, resources, and contract terms.
• Work with HDR Legal to establish and negotiate contract terms for AD projects.
• Coordinate with Transportation Leadership on upcoming AD projects and client relations.
• Facilitate HDR matrix collaboration across Areas, Regions, Market Sectors, and Business Classes.
• Advise HDR leadership on commercial and technical trends in AD.
• Manage AD Regional Leads and Resource Manager for project approvals.
• Negotiate teaming agreements and subcontracts with engineering/construction entities.
• Engage in industry associations to elevate HDR visibility.
