First Student is seeking a Transportation Dispatcher to manage bus dispatch and on-time route performance. You will counsel drivers, handle heavy phone and radio communication, and coordinate with major customers to resolve scheduling issues.

The role requires 3-5 years in dispatch or related fields, a high school diploma, and proficiency with radio dispatch equipment. DOT safety and compliance are integral to daily duties.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience in dispatch or related roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines.
• Computer literate and able to use dispatch software.
• DOT drug testing and physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversees routes and scheduling of buses.
• Counsels and coaches drivers and monitors.
• Handles heavy phone and radio traffic.
• Takes scheduling and driver complaints and reports to supervisor.
• Acts as primary liaison with contracted customer.
• May handle charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll.
• Provides solutions to drop-off and pick-up problems.
• Performs back-up driver duties and other clerical tasks.
