Position Summary

The Transfer Services Student Ambassador is an intermediate-level student employment position that supports the Coordinator of Transfer Affairs & Articulation Services with daily and long-term transfer operations. The student assists with transfer events, database review, research, content development, and operational support while building skills in higher education, customer service, research, communications, technology, event coordination, and professional administration.

  • Greet students and provide approved information about Transfer Services programs, events, and resources.
  • Assist with organizing published transfer materials, articulation resources, contact lists, and event information.
  • Support transfer fairs and workshops through setup, registration, check-in, materials, and attendance tracking.
  • Perform routine research and data entry using publicly available or staff-approved sources for supervisor review.
  • Assist with approved outreach and reminder communications.
  • Do not interpret transfer-credit decisions, guarantee transferability, approve equivalencies, or provide official transfer advising.
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work.
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements.
  • Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work.
  • Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Current RCC student eligible for Federal Work-Study and in good academic standing.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the RCC student experience and ability to learn transfer-related systems and resources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research, organization, attention-to-detail, and technology skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and representatives from four-year institutions.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and appropriately escalate questions or discrepancies to professional staff.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while meeting deadlines and maintaining accurate records.
Additional Information:

Scope of Student Role

The Transfer Services Student Ambassador may research, review, organize, draft, and flag transfer-related information for staff review. The student does not independently determine transferability, approve articulation information, interpret official transfer policy, or provide official transfer advising. Final validation of transfer and articulation information and official guidance to students remain the responsibility of the Coordinator of Transfer Affairs & Articulation Services and other authorized professional staff.

Federal Work-Study Compliance Notes

  • This FWS assignment is part-time, on-campus student employment and is contingent upon continued Federal Work-Study eligibility and available award funding.
  • FWS students may perform only the duties identified for the FWS assignment and approved by the supervisor; Learn & Earn responsibilities are not interchangeable with FWS duties.
  • Students and supervisors are responsible for monitoring scheduled hours so the student does not exceed the approved FWS award or institutional work-hour limits.
  • Timesheets must accurately reflect hours actually worked and be approved by the designated supervisor through the College's approved timekeeping process.

Funding & Scheduling Structure

One Transfer Services Student Ambassador placement is authorized through Federal Work-Study. The student is assigned to weekday, on-campus coverage, with anticipated availability on Mondays, Tuesdays, and part-time Wednesdays. The schedule will be coordinated around academic commitments and departmental needs. The student may work no more than 18.5 hours per week.

Supervision & Performance

The Transfer Services Student Ambassador reports to Evan Desatnick, Coordinator of Transfer Affairs & Articulation Services. The student receives training on transfer resources, databases, role boundaries, professional communication, and department procedures, along with regular supervision and feedback.

Advancement

Strong performers may become candidates for future advanced student-support, transfer, articulation, research, communications, project-lead, or higher-education positions when available.
