Applicants must be enrolled at RCC for 2026-2027 and have Federal Work-Study eligibility. The assignment runs Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 with a supervised, part-time schedule and campus-based duties.

Responsibilities

• Support basic outreach through approved email, tabling, and campus communication activities.
• Maintain organized program files, supply inventories, and participation records.
• Refer policy, conduct, crisis, advising, or other professional-service questions to appropriate RCC staff.

Roxbury Community College (RCC) is a public institution of higher education offering associate degrees, certificate programs and lifelong learning opportunities to the Greater Boston community. Position Summary

The Student Life Ambassador is a student-facing leadership and engagement position that represents Roxbury Community College to current and prospective students, families, guests, and the wider community. Ambassadors support the Student Life department by helping create a welcoming campus experience, promoting RCC programs and activities, supporting events and recruitment initiatives, providing peer-to-peer assistance, and helping students connect with college resources. This Level II position allows students to apply communication, customer-service, event-support, outreach, and leadership skills with increasing independence.

Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work.
Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements.
Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work.
Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor.

• Must be a student in good standing and meet applicable RCC student employment requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Successful completion of at least one semester at RCC.
• Familiarity with RCC programs, services, student resources, and campus locations.
• Previous experience in customer service, peer support, events, outreach, student leadership, or a comparable setting.
• Demonstrated academic progress and a minimum 2.5 GPA are preferred.

Federal Work-Study Compliance Notes

• This FWS assignment is part-time, on-campus student employment and is contingent upon continued Federal Work-Study eligibility and available award funding.
• FWS students may perform only the duties identified for the FWS assignment and approved by the supervisor; Learn & Earn responsibilities are not interchangeable with FWS duties.
• Students and supervisors are responsible for monitoring scheduled hours so the student does not exceed the approved FWS award or institutional work-hour limits.
• Timesheets must accurately reflect hours actually worked and be approved by the designated supervisor through the College's approved timekeeping process.

Supervision & Performance

The Student Life Ambassador reports to Erica McCummings, SeniorAssociate Dean of Student Engagement. Students will receive training, regular supervision, feedback, and professional-development opportunities. Student employees are expected to comply with RCC Student Employment policies, Student Life expectations, and applicable confidentiality and professional conduct requirements. Performance concerns will be addressed through RCC's progressive intervention process.
