Roxbury Community College (RCC) is a public institution of higher education offering associate degrees, certificate programs and lifelong learning opportunities to the Greater Boston community. Position Summary

The Student Enrollment Ambassador is an intermediate-level peer support position serving prospective, newly admitted, and currently enrolled students as they navigate RCC's enrollment and student-services experience. Working with RCC Connect, Admissions, Transfer Services, and Early College/Dual Enrollment programs, the Ambassador provides peer guidance, outreach, general information, wayfinding, and referrals while representing RCC in a welcoming and professional manner.

• Welcome prospective and current students and provide approved information about RCC enrollment services and campus resources.
• Assist with basic navigation of RCC Connect and other public/student-facing enrollment tools.
• Support check-in, queue management, outreach, event registration, forms, and distribution of approved materials.

• Do not make admissions, residency, financial-aid, registration, or academic decisions; refer those matters to authorized staff.

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year.
• Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work.
• Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements.
• Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work.
• Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled RCC student eligible for Federal Work-Study and in good academic standing.
• Must have completed at least one semester at RCC.
• Demonstrated familiarity with RCC enrollment processes, student services, campus resources, and the student experience.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with prospective students, current students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate judgment when handling student information.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and ability to commit to assigned work hours.
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn Slate, Microsoft Office, and other approved communication platforms.
• Ability to appropriately identify student questions or concerns that require referral to professional staff.

Additional Information:

Scope of Ambassador Role

Student Enrollment Ambassadors provide general information, peer guidance, navigation, outreach, and referrals. They do not independently provide academic advising, determine financial-aid eligibility, interpret student accounts, approve registration decisions, make admissions decisions, or provide official transfer/articulation guidance. Questions requiring interpretation, eligibility determinations, or professional decision-making must be referred to authorized RCC staff.

Federal Work-Study Compliance Notes

• This FWS assignment is part-time, on-campus student employment and is contingent upon continued Federal Work-Study eligibility and available award funding.
• FWS students may perform only the duties identified for the FWS assignment and approved by the supervisor; Learn & Earn responsibilities are not interchangeable with FWS duties.
• Students and supervisors are responsible for monitoring scheduled hours so the student does not exceed the approved FWS award or institutional work-hour limits.
• Timesheets must accurately reflect hours actually worked and be approved by the designated supervisor through the College's approved timekeeping process.

Funding & Scheduling Structure

Four Student Enrollment Ambassador placements are authorized through Federal Work-Study. FWS assignments are limited to approved weekday, on-campus work and are scheduled around students' academic commitments, department needs, and FWS eligibility requirements. Students may work no more than 18.5 hours per week. Weekend or otherwise non-FWS coverage identified in the originating program schedule is not assigned to these positions.

Supervision & Performance

The Student Enrollment Ambassador reports to Harrison Gonzalea-Garica and Chantea High, or designated Admissions/RCC Connect staff. Students receive training on enrollment processes, campus resources, Slate and approved systems, confidentiality, role boundaries, referrals, and professional customer service.

Advancement

Strong performers may become candidates for future advanced ambassador, peer leadership, admissions, enrollment services, student-success, outreach, or project-support positions when available.
