Roxbury Community College Athletics Team Student Assistant is an entry-level on-campus role supporting coaching staff with day-to-day administration, organization, and operation of RCC athletics. You will help with practices, competitions, team logistics, equipment, communications, and records under supervision.
This is for the 2026-2027 academic year. Currently enrolled RCC student with Federal Work-Study funding, working up to 18.5 hours weekly.

Position Summary
The Athletics Team Student Assistant supports the coaching staff with the day-to-day administration, organization, and operation of an RCC athletics team. Working under the direction of the Head Coach and Athletics staff, students assist with practices, competitions, team logistics, equipment, communications, records, and other activities that contribute to an organized and positive student-athlete experience. This is an entry-level role designed to build foundational skills in athletics operations, teamwork, customer service, communication, and workplace professionalism.
Organize team materials, uniforms, supplies, and equipment for weekday on-campus activities.
Assist with routine inventory and equipment records.
Prepare forms, packets, schedules, and other team materials as directed by Athletics staff.
Support on-campus setup and breakdown for approved team activities within the FWS schedule.
Perform basic administrative tasks such as copying, filing, and data entry.
Do not coach, make team decisions, travel off campus as part of FWS duties, or perform Learn & Earn team‑management responsibilities.
Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work.
Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements.
Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work.
Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled RCC student in good academic standing and eligible for the approved funding source.
No prior paid coaching or athletics employment experience required.
Reliable, punctual, organized, and able to follow coaching and staff direction.
Ability to communicate professionally and work collaboratively with coaches, student-athletes, staff, and other student employees.
Interest in athletics, team operations, coaching, recreation, or related career fields.
Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and follow Athletics Department and College policies.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous playing experience or direct volunteer/work involvement with the relevant sport.
Experience supporting a team, athletics program, recreation activity, or campus event.
Interest in developing leadership, coaching, sports management, or athletics operations skills.
Federal Work-Study Compliance Notes
This FWS assignment is part-time, on-campus student employment and is contingent upon continued Federal Work-Study eligibility and available award funding.
FWS students may perform only the duties identified for the FWS assignment and approved by the supervisor; Learn & Earn responsibilities are not interchangeable with FWS duties.
Students and supervisors are responsible for monitoring scheduled hours so the student does not exceed the approved FWS award or institutional work-hour limits.
Timesheets must accurately reflect hours actually worked and be approved by the designated supervisor through the College's approved timekeeping process.

Funding & Scheduling Structure
2 Federal Work-Study placement(s) are authorized for this role. Work is limited to the approved Federal Work-Study duties and schedule. The position is subject to the student's available FWS award and RCC student-employment work-hour limits, with a maximum of 18.5 hours per week.
Supervision & Performance
The Athletics Team Student Assistant reports to Albert Hayle and works under the direction of the assigned Head Coach and Athletics Department staff. Students receive role-specific training, regular supervision, feedback, and professional-development opportunities. Performance concerns will be addressed through RCC's progressive intervention process.
Advancement
Students who demonstrate strong performance, sport-specific knowledge, reliability, initiative, leadership, and increasing independence may become candidates for future intermediate or advanced athletics, team, event, or coaching-support positions when available.
