Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Traffic Engineer to apply electrical, civil, and systems principles to traffic signal and lighting design, ITS interconnections, and corridor-level signal timing for public and private sector clients.

The role requires 5–10 years in the field, an ABET-accredited degree, and a PE license for civil candidates or EIT with PE timeline. Travel to southeastern US projects may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, systems, or civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5–10 years of experience in the specified discipline.
• Active PE license for civil candidates or active EIT with plan to obtain PE within 6 months.
• Valid US driver’s license and ability to drive.

Responsibilities

• Traffic signal and roadway lighting design, including CAD and field work.
• ITS, signal interconnection, and emerging traffic technology design.
• Signal timing at a corridor level, including field-based fine tuning.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and provide technical guidance.
• Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates.
