Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned firm providing architecture, engineering and IT services nationwide. The Traffic Engineering position requires designing traffic signals and roadway lighting, coordinating with multiple disciplines, and supporting Smart Mobility projects.

A PE license in civil engineering is preferred, with EIT acceptable if the candidate plans to obtain NC/SC licensure within six months.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, systems, or civil engineering from an ABET accredited program.
5–10 years of experience in a specialized discipline.
Active professional engineer (PE) license for civil candidates; EIT acceptable if able to obtain NC/SC PE within 6 months.
Must have a US driver’s license and pass JMT’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

Traffic signal and roadway lighting design, including CAD and field work.
ITS, signal interconnection, and emerging traffic technology design.
Signal timing at a corridor level with field-based tuning and implementation.
Support of traffic safety projects and other Smart Mobility initiatives.
Signal cabinet wiring and signal controller programming.
Coordinate with other disciplines and ensure alignment with project design.
Develop or review construction cost estimates and contract plans/specifications.
