Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Engineer to design traffic signals and roadway lighting, perform CAD work, and coordinate assignments with limited supervision.

The role involves signal timing, ITS and Smart Mobility projects, field data analysis, cost estimating, and preparing plans and specifications for clients.

Requires ABET-accredited engineering degree, 5–10 years of experience, and a PE license for civil candidates; EIT acceptable for non-civil tracks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, mechanical, or systems engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5–10 years of experience in a related discipline.
• Active PE license (civil candidates) or eligible for licensure within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Traffic signal and roadway lighting design, including CAD and field work.
• ITS, signal interconnection, and traffic technology design.
• Signal timing at corridor level and field-based adjustments.
• Support of traffic safety and Smart Mobility projects.
• Prepare and review contract plans, specs and estimates.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and provide design guidance.
