Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Engineer to design and manage traffic signal and roadway lighting projects across the southeastern US. The role combines electrical, civil and systems engineering principles with CAD execution and field work.

You will perform signal timing, ITS design, cost estimates, and coordinate with other disciplines while supporting client meetings and project delivery under limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, systems, or civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5–10 years of experience in the specialized discipline.
• Active PE license (civil) or EIT with ability to obtain NC/SC PE within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Traffic signal and roadway lighting design using CAD and field work.
• ITS, signal interconnection, and emerging traffic technology design.
• Signal timing at a corridor level with field-based tuning and implementation.
• Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and participate in client meetings.
