Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in Hauppauge, NY is seeking a full-time System Operator I for our Transportation Management Center.

The role requires familiarity with Long Island roadways, communications protocols, and ITS elements, with the ability to follow procedures independently. You will operate ATMS, monitor radios, CCTV, signals, and dispatch malfunctions, while performing daily reports and updating variable message signs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Willing to work all shifts including weekends, overnights and holidays.
• Proficient with MS Office, GIS and web-based information systems.
• Aptitude for providing exceptional customer service.
• Adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.
• Must pass a background/criminal history check.
• Commitment to workplace safety and health policies.

Responsibilities

• Operate the ATMS in the Transportation Management Center.
• Monitor radios, police scanners, CCTV displays, and system maps for incidents.
• Oversee traffic signal and ramp metering activities.
• Dispatch malfunctions and highway maintenance calls.
• Maintain records, enter data, and generate daily reports.
• Monitor and update all variable message signs.
