Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in Hauppauge, NY seeks a System Operator I for the Transportation Management Center on a full-time basis.

The role requires familiarity with Long Island roadways, ITS elements, and the ability to follow procedures with minimal supervision. You will operate ATMS, monitor radios, CCTV displays, and highway signs, dispatch maintenance, and generate daily reports while upholding safety and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Willingness to work all shifts including weekends, overnights and holidays.
• Proficiency with MS Office, GIS and web-based information systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate the TMC’s advanced traffic management system (ATMS).
• Monitor radios/police scanners, CCTV displays, and system maps for incidents.
• Monitor computerized traffic signal and ramp metering activities.
• Dispatch traffic signal malfunctions and highway maintenance calls.
• Perform record keeping tasks, keyboard entries and generate daily reports.
• Monitor and update all variable message signs.
