Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Part Time System Operator I Trainee in Long Island City, NY to support its Mobility Operations Team. You will operate ITS systems, monitor CCTV, and coordinate with JTMC partners to manage incidents and communicate traveler information.

The role requires a high school diploma, 0–2 years of experience, and the ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays. NYSP background check is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to handle phone calls efficiently and professionally.
• Familiarity with MS Office, spreadsheets and databases.
• Typing at least 35 words per minute.
• Ability to use digital roadway maps and understand roadway elements.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts including days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays; short notice overtime may be required.
• Must pass New York State Police background check.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Operate computer-based traffic and freeway management systems to manage incidents.
• Monitor roadways via CCTV and detection systems.
• Monitor ITS devices and equipment.
• Perform daily checklists of ITS devices and control room equipment.
• Troubleshoot system failures and maintain equipment ticket databases.
• Post traveler information messages on VMS and verify accuracy.
• Enter incident information into Traveler Information Systems using IMP.
• Coordinate with JTMC partners and NYSDOT Region TMCs for incidents.
