Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a senior mechanical designer in Richardson, TX for on-site work supporting defense (DoD) programs. You will create precise mechanical/electrical layouts, collaborate with engineers, and manage design data in controlled environments.

The role requires a AA/AS degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, and ability to obtain DoD clearance; SolidWorks/Siemens experience is essential. Siemens NX preferred. Excellent mentoring of junior designers is valued.

Qualifications

• AA/AS degree with minimum 6 years relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
• 1+ years experience in 3D modeling using SolidWorks or Siemens.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced technical design layouts from verbal instructions and sketches.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams.
• Prepare records for release of design data into company systems.
• Mentor new designers in design database and release procedures.
• Specify materials, finishes, processes, connectors, and components.
• Apply engineering standards to hardware design and documentation.
• Prepare technical documentation for release of hardware data.
• Assist in data/documentation revision of released artifacts.
• Maintain awareness of contractually controlled design requirements.
• Demonstrate advanced CAD/data management proficiency and adapt to new tools.
• Handle complex problems with sound judgment and seek guidance when needed.
