Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks a skilled designer to work onsite in the United States, performing moderately technical tasks to produce precision mechanical/electrical designs from verbal instructions and existing models. You will prepare release documentation and may mentor junior designers.

Requirements include a HS Diploma or AA/AS with 4+ years of experience, and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance. Familiarity with SolidWorks/Siemens NX is needed.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or AA/AS with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
• 1+ years experience in 3D modeling using SolidWorks or Siemens.

Responsibilities

• May perform tasks in a classified closed lab environment.
• Under general supervision: perform moderately technical tasks to create precision mechanical/electrical design layouts from verbal instructions, sketches, existing hardware, or engineering models; collaborate with mechanical/electrical engineering and technical support personnel.
• Prepare records for release of design data into the company data and documentation control systems.
• May mentor new mechanical designers or engineers in procedures for design database and documentation release.
• Assist in determining proper specifications for materials, finishes, and processes during the design process.
• Apply company, industry, and contractual standards during hardware design and documentation preparation.
• Prepare technical documentation for release of hardware design data into the company documentation control system.
• Assist in data & documentation revision of released artifacts in the document control system.
• Maintain awareness of contractually controlled design and documentation requirements.
• CAD/data management tools: demonstrate competent proficiency.
• Problem solving & judgment: manage moderately complex tasks independently.
