Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Richardson, TX is seeking a skilled mechanical designer in an onsite role supporting DoD-grade projects. You will develop precision hardware layouts using SolidWorks or Siemens NX in a regulated environment requiring DoD clearance.

Responsibilities include preparing design data for release, mentoring junior designers, ensuring compliance with standards, and maintaining accurate documentation within our control systems. On-site work and security requirements apply.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or AA/AS with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
• 1+ years experience in 3D modeling using SolidWorks or Siemens.

Responsibilities

• May perform tasks in a classified closed lab environment.
• Performs moderately technical tasks to create precision layouts from verbal instructions or models.
• Prepares records for release of design data into the control system.
• Mentor new mechanical designers in design data release procedures.
• Assist in selecting materials, finishes and processes during design.
• Applies standards during hardware design and documentation prep.
• Prepares technical documentation for release into the control system.
• Assist in data/documentation revisions of released artifacts.
• Maintain awareness of contractually controlled design/documentation requirements.
• CAD/data management tools: demonstrates competent proficiency.
• Problem solving: handles moderately complex tasks with sound judgment.
