Job summary

RTX is seeking a senior mechanical designer to create hardware design layouts and release documentation in a controlled environment. You will mentor junior designers, specify materials and electrical components, and ensure compliance with contract standards.

The role requires 6+ years of relevant experience and the ability to obtain DoD clearance, with some exposure to Siemens NX being preferred.

Qualifications

• Typically requires an AA/AS degree with minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
• Candidates subject to government security investigation and eligibility checks.
• 1+ years experience in 3D modeling using SolidWorks or Siemens.
• Experience with Siemens NX preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced mechanical/electrical design layouts from instructions and models under supervision.
• Prepare records for design data release into company systems.
• Mentor new designers in procedures for design data release.
• Assist in defining materials, finishes, and electrical components specifications.
• Apply company standards during hardware design and documentation.
• Prepare technical documentation for release into the document control system.
• Support data and document revisions in the control system.
• Monitor contractually controlled design and documentation requirements.
• Demonstrate advanced proficiency with CAD/data management tools.
• Diagnose root causes and evaluate multiple solution paths with sound judgment.
