Job summary

Gulf Winds International, Inc. is seeking a Terminal Manager to oversee the Houston terminal’s dispatch operations, driver retention, and scheduling execution with a focus on cost control and margins.

You will lead a transportation team, coordinate with Safety, Driver Recruitment, Customer Service, and Sales, and drive process improvements to deliver safe, reliable service. This full-time role requires strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years transportation experience
• Management experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
• Experience with owner-operator model preferred

Responsibilities

• Responsible for day-to-day operations and execution of plan working with team of dispatchers and schedulers.
• Set priorities for the dispatchers throughout the day.
• Work closely with Safety, Driver Recruitment, Customer Service, Sales to serve drivers and customers.
• Complete Missing pay rates, margin reports, yard report reconciliation
• Manage company driver cost and productivity
• Knowledge of GWI dispatch process and dispatch as needed
• Oversee volumes, workloads, capacity, KPI’s, yards, and driver needs for customer/driver success
• Communicate freight needs with scheduling group
• Track company assets and coordinate with M&R
• Resolve conflicts between contractors and dispatch within policy
• Manage P&L, cost, and margins to increase terminal profitability
• Participate in implementing new Key Account/Contract business
• Maintain service level for drivers and customers
• Achieve driver retention goals within transportation ops
• Maintain relationships with independent contractors to retain fleet
• Promote Operational Excellence focused on safety and quality
• Coach and develop transportation team; plan succession
• Drive employee engagement to support company missions
• Manage quarterly KPI’s for team
• Address personnel needs and performance management
• Ensure facility and grounds are maintained and stocked
