Job summary

Gulf Winds International, Inc. is seeking a Terminal Manager to oversee the Houston terminal's dispatch operations, driver retention, and cost control. This full-time role reports to the Vice President of Drayage Operations and requires strong leadership in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.

You will coordinate with Safety, Driver Recruitment, Customer Service and Sales, manage margins, and drive process improvements while aligning with company goals and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Prior management experience.
• Strong communication & writing skills with internal/external customers.
• Self-starter, works with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of transportation industry, logistics and supply chain, preferably in the Houston market.
• Strong understanding of margins and driver pay.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Familiar with the “owner-operator” model in transportation.
• Ability to motivate, train, hire, lead and evaluate performance.
• Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on communication and teamwork.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day dispatch and scheduling operations with a team of dispatchers and schedulers.
• Set daily dispatch priorities for the team.
• Collaborate with Safety, Driver Recruitment, Customer Service and Sales to support drivers and customers.
• Track missing pay rates, margin reports, and yard report reconciliation.
• Manage company driver cost and productivity.
• Understand and apply the GWI dispatch process as needed.
• Oversee volumes, workloads, capacity, customer requirements/KPIs, yards, and driver needs.
• Communicate freight needs with the scheduling group.
• Track company assets and coordinate with M&R and management.
• Resolve conflicts between contractors and dispatch per company policy.
• Manage P&L and margins to increase terminal profitability.
• Participate in new Key Account/Contract business implementations.
• Maintain strong relationships with independent contractors to retain fleet.
• Promote Operational Excellence focused on safety and quality.
• Build, develop, coach and manage the transportation team with succession planning.
• Drive employee engagement to support company mission, vision, and values.
• Manage quarterly KPI’s for the team.
• Ensure facility and grounds are maintained and stocked with necessary supplies.
