Job summary

Gulf Winds International Inc. is seeking a Terminal Manager to oversee the Houston terminal operations, with a focus on dispatch performance, driver retention, and cost control.

The role reports to the Vice President of Drayage Operations and requires strong leadership in a fast-paced environment. You will manage the dispatch team, coordinate with Safety, Customer Service, and Sales, and drive process improvements to maximize profitability while maintaining high safety and service standards

Qualifications

• Must possess strong communication and writing skills to interface with customers and management.
• Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of transportation, logistics, and the Houston market preferred.
• Strong understanding of margins and driver pay.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Familiar with owner-operator model in transportation.
• Ability to motivate, train, hire, lead, and evaluate team.
• Strong interpersonal skills and cross-department collaboration.
• Willingness to perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day dispatch operations with coordinators.
• Set priorities for dispatchers throughout the day.
• Collaborate with Safety, Driver Recruitment, Customer Service, and Sales.
• Manage driver costs and productivity.
• Dispatch as needed with knowledge of GWI dispatch process.
• Oversee volumes, capacity, KPI's, yards, and driver needs.
• Communicate freight needs with scheduling group.
• Track assets and coordinate with M&R and management.
• Resolve conflicts between contractors and dispatch within policy.
• Manage P&L, costs, and margins to increase profitability.
• Participate in new Key Account/Contract opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with independent contractors to retain fleet.
• Drive operational excellence focused on safety and quality.
• Build and develop transportation team; ensure succession plan.
• Drive employee engagement.
• Manage quarterly KPI’s for team.
• Ensure facility is maintained and stocked.
