Job summary

Micro Center in Paterson, NJ is seeking Retail Computer Technicians to assist customers at the service counter and in-store repair departments, delivering expert troubleshooting and recommendations.

Starting at $16.50/hour with productivity incentives that can raise hourly rates up to $35.00, you will diagnose devices, support data backups, warranties, and subscriptions, and build custom PCs while keeping customers informed and satisfied.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; 1 year related computer service repair or technical customer service preferred.
• CompTIA A+ certification or Apple ACMT/ACiT certifications, or ability to certify within 90 days.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to multi-task.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for prolonged periods.
• Shifts include hours before/after store open, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person consultations and troubleshooting at the service counter for computers and related products.
• Recommend service solutions including data backups, antivirus, warranties, and subscriptions.
• Identify, diagnose, and document hardware or software issues on desktops, laptops, mobile devices, TVs, and monitors.
• Assemble custom computers sold by the BYO build team.
• Maintain certifications and stay up to date on products and technologies.
• Manage cash till, handle transactions, and keep the work area clean with accurate inventory.
• Communicate repair status to customers via face-to-face, phone, text and email.
